The jury, composed of Federico Rizzo (director), Gianfilippo Pedote (producer) and Miche Suma (art director of “Sguardi del Cinema Italiano”), awarded the official prizes of the eighth edition of Imaginaria Film Festival.

Best Short Film L'ETÈ / SUMMER by LM Formentin (France) France. By the end of summer, on a shore of the Atlantic coast, a woman and her two sons sit next to a man alone: he is naked. The woman starts looking at him.
Jury’s motivation: For the faultless direction and the extraordinary black and white photography – mainly backlighting – masterfully used to evoke the typical sensuality of a certain French cinema of the 60s and adjusted by an erotic tension that tells of present time and of the fantasies of a woman stiffened by her double role of wife and mother.

Best Animated Short Film HAND SOAP by Kei Oyama (Japan) The silent and disturbing story of a teenager and his family.
Jury’s motivation: For the quality and the originality of the strokes and "textures" and for the film’s relentless tension, depicting the constriction and loneliness felt by a young boy too often target of others’ violence and wickedness.

Special Mention RITA by Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia (Italy) Rita is a born blind girl. In the claustrophobic world of her house a fugitive young man bursts into, seriously injured and scared to death. The enigmatic encounter between the two will turn into a temporary experience of freedom for Rita.
Jury’s motivation: For the delicacy and poetry adopted to stage a blind young girl who dreams of freedom and who finally enjoys this freedom by the end open to multiple interpretations. |
